Google is advising owners of Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones to disable Wi-Fi calling in their phone’s settings until a serious security flaw is resolved. Google’s Project Zero team uncovered several safety flaws in Samsung Galaxy smartphones. According to them, hackers can easily target your devices. “Project Zero tests demonstrate that those four flaws enable an attacker to remotely hack a phone at the baseband level with no user input and by just knowing the victim’s phone number.
With limited additional research and development, we believe that skilled attackers would be able to quickly create an operational exploit to compromise affected devices silently and remotely,” Google said.
The affected devices are:
- Samsung Galaxy phones such as the S22, M33, M13, M12, A71, A53, A33, A21, A13, A12 and A04 models.
- Vivo phones, such as the S16, S15, S6, X70, X60, and X30 series
- Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro from Google
- Any wearable device that employs the Exynos W920 chipset
- Any vehicle equipped with the Exynos Auto T5123 chipset
